iPhone X

Apple’s 10th anniversary iPhone X became the best selling smartphone model in the world. In the first quarter of 2018 marking the next hit of iPhone recently after its release and setting high standards for its competitors. It is considered to be the king of the apple smartphone hill with dozens of new technology and advanced mechanism. Since having common features like iPhone 8 and iPhone8 plus, what makes it stand out among them all are the following factors:

Stunning Display:

With so many years, Apple has been coasting with the same design as introduced for iPhone 6; however, iPhone X is a huge departure from the old designs with an iconic and gorgeous display. It delivers a jaw-dropping 5.8 inches big OLED screen offering a higher resolution of 2436 x 112. The edges around the screen melt away to give a “bezel-less” display, without the home button.

The aluminum sides are swapped with stainless steel and the front and rear of the phone are glass. Its sleek and glossy design can’t resist the users to buy it. The notch at the top of the screen, however, may give an irritating view but technically, Apple has done a great job in providing an immersive display reducing the bezels, providing vibrant colors and giving it much modern look than the previous versions.

iPhone X features

Top-tier camera:

The controversial notch at the top of the screen accommodates the front-facing camera with depth- sensing sensor technology offering impressive portrait mode selfies with new lighting options.  Instead of using touch ID fingerprint scanner, Apple introduced facial recognition which is found to be a more secure method of authentication. It has a dual-lens camera including both wide-angle and telephoto lens capable of shooting 12Mp images.

The wider aperture on the telephoto lens allows for shallower depth of field and better performance in low light situations. Both cameras have optical image stabilization which prevents the photo from blurriness either taken with shaky hands or while zooming in on objects.

iPhone X shares nearly identical hardware to iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 plus comprising A11 bionic chip with 64-bit architecture and embedded M11 motion coprocessor making it fast and energy efficient.

Wireless charging:

The phone has an impressive battery life lasting up to 2 hours longer than iPhone 7. However, iPhone 8 plus still offers a better battery life leaving it behind in the race. The glass back of iPhone X makes it compatible with the Qi wireless charging standard, the same as for iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 plus. For juicing it up, just put it carefully on the charging pad without fussing yourself with cables. However, the slightest nudge can disrupt the process of charging. In terms of charging, Apple promises a 50 percent charge in 30 minutes but the users are disappointed to not include the fast charger in the box which is quite expensive.

One of the amazing features that have been hidden from the users is its water-resistant property making it stay underwater up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. Apple has confirmed its glass to be strong and durable. Unlike other phones, iPhone X is likely to get the latest software and security updates quickly and it is highly expected to last 4 to 5 years before it stops getting updates.

Gesture-based iOS:

In the absence of a home button, gestures are used to control and navigate with iOS which is quite an incredible and new feature. In order to get to notification center simply pull down the finger from the center notch area whereas sliding down from the top right shoulder leads to the control center. It gives quite an easy and quick approach to navigate through the phone.

Face ID:

It has been for the first time in iPhones, Apple has introduced face ID rather than touch ID which is going to be the hallmark for iPhone X and huge game changer. It is a quicker and easier way to unlock the phone as it works accurately in both light and dark conditions. It also prevents from struggling to unlock the phone with greasy and wet fingers. There is also an incredible feature available with the name of animoji using face ID’s 3D mapping sensor. As the name shows, it tracks the facial expressions of the user and merges them with the selected emoji with surprising accuracy.

Plus points:

  • Innovative and iconic design
  • Face ID which is convenient than touch ID
  • Fast speed
  • Improved telephoto camera
  • Wireless charging

Minus points:

  • Very costly
  • Notch disrupts the immense display

With all new technology and graceful design iPhone X has become industry’s leading smartphone while it is going to give a hard time to its buyers due to the high cost that might put them off.
